A Description of Handmade Candles Making

There is no better gift than handmade candles. It is very easy to make candles at home and the happiness you get when you gift someone candles made with your own hands is incomparable. You could conveniently make candles using your canning jars found in all homes.  You could make some beautiful candles using the traditional jars.  You will be surprised!  If you happen to be those who are not interested in candle making at all, but love candles, let me inform you there are several candles you can find in the market. You will find it difficult to choose. Apart from gifting, it is fascinating to light your own candles at home and flaunt them when you have visitors.

In case you do not have the canning jars at home, you could borrow it from your neighbor or buy one.  You can find them at any store and are quite inexpensive.  All kinds of stores stock such jars. You will not have any difficulty in finding one. It is too much fun to make candles on your own.  However, I must add here that you have to take safety precautions while making candles. Paraffin wax is highly inflammable. Try not to make them when there are children around.

Wax – You could make container candles or remove them from the container and gift-wrap them.  Paraffin wax, gel wax and soy wax are useful for making candles too. Apart from wax, you will need to buy a strong thread that you get in the market to form the wick.  Any place that sells wax will surely have the thread for making wick.

Color – Before you start making the candles you should keep all the ingredients ready so that you do not have to run to get when you are in the middle of making them. You could go creative on the color you wish to add. You could make a multiple color candle, a two-color candle or even a single color candle.  Again, you will find these colors at the same shop that sells candles.

Fragrance – You could enchant your guests by adding fragrances to your handmade candles. There are oils and powders available that you could add to the wax after melting so that it gives an aroma when you lit the candle. There is a variety of fragrances available in the market. You could choose the one you love or if you are gifting someone, depending on the choice of the person.  Fragrances like lavender, coffee, and lime, vanilla and orange are available. You can even buy a wide range of spicy and fruity scents.

Decoration – In case you are making gel wax candles, you could even add sprinklers, stars or other decoration in the wax. Such sparkles look beautiful on the candle when you lit the candle.  You could only make Gel wax candles in glass containers. They do not stand on their own like the paraffin wax candles. One could go very creative in decorating the candles. They could be beautified from outside, on the lid, tied with fancy ribbons or fabric.  Irrespective of how you adorn the candle the person receiving, your handmade candle will love this gift and will always remember you.  Handmade candles make the perfect Christmas gift. If you try making them, you might end up making it your profession. It is such a fun activity.
